Wild Image

A 6 month Therapeutic Photography Apprenticship

Our modern world needs image medicine to help guide the way into a new cultural terrain.

Join embodiment guide and therapeutic photographer Jenny Ann Holden for this incredible embodied learning journey into the terrain of soul, psyche, and our instinctual wild nature. You will learn image creation from an eco-somatic and mythopoetic approach. Through embodiment, creative practice and ritual arts, your photography work will transform lives.

We will use individual and communal creativity to explore the collective unconscious to discover embodied and image-based creative forms of expression of the wild feminine. We will deepen into the wisdom She offers to both personal and collective issues through our own unique embodied creative process.

Are you called to create creative healing ceremonies for women as a process of self-reclamation and cultural renewal?

Wild Image Course offers you an opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to create one of a kind therapeutic photography sessions for your clients. Wild Images are so much more than photographs, they are living memories of our Feminine Ancestors who are inside of every woman waiting to show us how to reconnect to our wild, instinctual nature and the living earth.

Wild Image creation offers somatic experiences for individuals wanting to opening to the primordial feminine. It is Her long exiled energy that is being expressed in Wild Images and integrated into our psyche. Wild Images are poems and spells that work magic in realms we cannot perceive with our eyes.

There is a wild image that lives inside of every woman.

The Wild Image Apprenticeship is an accumulation of knowledge and lived experience that is both personal and archetypal. The Wild Image has lived inside of us, buried deep in the collective body, for as long as any one can remember. For so many women (myself included), it was upon reading Women Who Run With Wolves that the wild image became animate once again.

The re-awakening of the Wild Woman Archetype has guided many women back into relationship with their instinctual nature. Photography is but one tool to understand and express our personal worlds as women reclaiming our wild nature.

“There are somatic images that express the urges of life…there are myths about transforming nature-the stories of alchemy if awakening, creation, self-formation. They speak of the bodies ability to imitate roles, to make them part of oneself.” - Joseph Campbell

What’s inside

Module 1: Entering the Wild Image

The imaginal fertility of the Wild Image summons the artist into the animate..We begin this course with embodied patchwork into the landscape of the Wild Woman Archetype within our own bodies. Followed by a brief study of the phenomena of the wild image and how it is influencing modern culture. As creative practitioners, how can we enter in meaningful culture work through generating wild images for your clients?

Module 2: Seeing Through Her Eyes

Prophetic and oracular sight is one of the many blessings of the Wild Woman Archetype. When we connect to the Wild Woman Archetype we are seeing through Second Sight as our primal intelligence activates a storehouse of somatic information. We are seeing into the unseen, feeling into Mystery. In module 2, you will be invited to practice a form of somatic sensing and seeing that will open up new neural-pathways in which your image making becomes a clear channel.

Module 3: Pathways to Earth Embodiment

Wild image comes from an understanding that the body is seeking reunion with the Earth and that images generate a lived experience from within the soma that can help individuals orient towards a healthy and healing relationship with the Earth. In this module we will explore how embodiment photography is a tool for creating pathways for a deeper relationship with the earth as well as contributing to a culture in which individuals can orient towards a somatic experience as earth creatures.

Module 4: Care for the Wild Soul

Wild image comes from Soul. When we are calling forward an individual’s wild image, we are in communion with their Soul. It is important that we take great care of Soul in order our individual and shared relationship to Earth to be sustained, for shadows to be met and integrated. In this module we will explore how Soul Tending is a tool for creating a felt-sense of safety for a deeper relationship with our innate wildness.

Module 5: Cultivating Brave Space

Revealing, stripping down, being seen in ones fullness, is a vulnerable experience and in order for individuals to gain access to the courage necessary in order to be fully seen, they need to feel safe. In this class, we will discuss the difference between safe and brave space and explore different approaches and tools to support clients in revealing themselves more fully.

Module 6: Trekking The Mythic Path

As a culture worker, as a seeker of beauty and truth, you are someone who walks the mythic path. The Mythic Path pulls and pushes us into great depth and mystery. The simplest story can call us into the Underground Forest. Seeking for the Wild Image is a form of “participation mystique” in which we step away from ego time and merge with Mythic Reality. We plunge into rivers and journey through tree roots. To walk this path requires endurance, cunning, skill, patience, and trust. In this final module and closing ceremony we will honour the paths that we walk as culture workers tending to the Wild Feminine.

Wild Image is a trauma-informed space where there will be vulnerable shares about challenging topics. It is not, however, a group therapy space for verbally processing traumatic history. The facilitators of this space are not therapists or counselors. If you suspect you would benefit from 1:1 therapeutic support while embarking on this creative unearthing journey in Wild Image, we encourage you to line up that support.

By joining this program, you are taking responsibility for managing your own experience, as both the keeper of your own journey and a sovereign witness of others’ journeys.
